Gigi Sanguillen

Gesselle M Sanguillen, my new friend since I started taking classes at the evening time, likes for people to call her Gigi. Her neighborhood is in Harlem, Manhattan she works in her area as a sales representative. Sometime she works as a cashier at a bakery after she finishes working, she come straight to the college. She takes the same train everyday, the number 9 and the then the number 7. She came to the United States in 1998, from la Romana, the Dominican Republic. Her first language, like my is Spanish, and she had also learned a little Creole before coming here. She is 21 like me, but she will be 22 sooner than me. I will 22 January of next year.
My friend, Gigi, came to the United States with a purpose. Ever since she knew that she was coming to the United States, she has been thinking about getting a degree in travel and tourism. That is the major that she wants to finish here in college. Gigi lives with her parents. Gigi's mother once a week cooks Gigi's favorite food, rice and chicken. This is a typical food for us in the Dominican Republic. Sometimes, she says that she wants to go back to the Dominican Republic because she misses her friends there. But the reason why she is still here is because in this country there are many opportunities for everyone.
We were talking about a little bit of everything. We were talking about what she likes to do, she said that in her free time she liked to watch women's basketball. Another thing that she likes is wearing different shoes all the time. Her favorite number is 45, far away from my number, which is 9, but it doesn't matter. We agreed on our favorite color, which is green. The most important thing was when we started to talk about people who she likes. As for Major Giuliani, she says that she can't say anything about him because she doesn't know him well. On the other hand, when I asked her about Bill Clinton, she just said, that he was a really good president. At that moment we started talking about everything, but she has a lot of thing to talk about which is why I like her as a good friend.
Having a good fried at this time is really difficult, but I am glad that I have came to this college. Here I have learned what a friend means. With Gigi I learned a lot of things about my country that I didn't know before. It is good to have a friend and it is even better if this is a real friend like Gigi is.
