Zaida lives in Astoria, Queens. Every day, before coming to class, she works, as a cashier in a supermarket. She comes to school by train. She has been living in the U.S. since 1996. She is Peruvian by birth, and she used to live in Lima, Peru. Her first language is Spanish, and she doesn't speak any other language except English. Her major at La Guardia is Liberal Arts. Her birthday is on September 18. She has told me some of her favorite things, like her favorite number, which is nine; color, which is black; food, which is Jalea, which is a Peruvian
She also tells me that she lives with her family, and that even though she lives with them, she sometimes wants to go back to her home country. Another thing she says is that she loves computers and that she spends a lot of time using them, at home, and anywhere she has the opportunity to do it. she shares with me an interesting thing that happened to her on the computers. She met a boy on the internet. They kept in touch for a long time. They got to know each other as much as they could, as if they were friends their whole life. They shared every single thing that happens to each one of them, however, they could never meet because she is here in the U.S, while he is in Brazil, which is so far from here. At least, they keep the hope that they might meet some day.
I find her to be an interesting person because she likes to do good things, and it was a nice experience to be sharing with her tonight.
