The weather was springlike on January 1, 2005, so the crowd was bigger than usual. The Polar Bears meet every Sunday throughout the winter months, and they jump into the icy Atlantic Ocean no matter how cold the weather is--even if it's snowing! I don't know why they do this, but Coney Island Amusement Park is probably the appropriate choice of place. Historically, Coney Island has been a spot where all kinds of crazy things go on.
